[講座]敬邀參與英國Plymouth大學Christopher Cook教授「我的創作與超現實主義」講座

視覺藝術學系將於3/15(星期三)下午二時至四時在公誠樓第一會議室,邀請英國Plymouth大學,Christopher Cook教授蒞臨系上演講,講題是「我的創作與超現實主義」,歡迎同學踴躍參加。

Christopher Cook (b.1959)

Painter, poet and teacher, born in North Yorkshire. He attended Exeter College of Art & Design, 1978–81, gaining the Gladys Hunkin Poetry Prize, then obtained master’s degree in painting, Royal College of Art, 1983–6. Also studied at Rietveld Akademie, Amsterdam, 1985; gained an Italian Scholarship, 1986; and in 1987–8 attended Accademia di Belle Arti, Bologna. Won a number of prizes, including first prize at Camden Annual, 1984, with a prize at John Moores Liverpool Exhibition, 1999. Cook was fellow in painting at Exeter College of Art, 1989; guest artist, Stadelschule Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany, 1991, the year he was head of painting, Exeter Faculty of Art, University of Plymouth, 1991; visiting artist, Akademie van beeldende Kunsten, Rotterdam, Holland, 1992; visiting fellow at Oxford University, 1993; and reader in painting at University of Plymouth from 1997.

In addition to many mixed shows in Britain and abroad, had solo show at Camden Arts Centre, 1985, later ones including a series at Benjamin Rhodes Gallery from 1987–8, Graphites, at Hirschl Contemporary Art, 2000 (from which the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, bought three paintings), and Plymouth Arts Centre, 2001. Cook’s sixth book of poetry, For and Against Nature, appeared in 2000. British Museum and other public collections hold his work. Lived in Exeter, Devon.
